SANDRA MARIE BUSH
November 16, 1935 - September 14, 2022
Sandy was born in Portland, Oregon and graduated from St. Mary 's Academy. While working in a grocery store in Oregon, she met her husband of fifty years, Frank. Frank 's work took them throughout Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and California before settling in Bakersfield in 1967. There they raised their five children - Francine, Michael (Yvonne), David, Sharon, and Teresa. Her devotion to her family was truly supreme; always putting their needs above her own.
Sandy was active at St. Francis School and Garces Memorial High School, where she proudly enrolled her children. She was a familiar face chaperoning on student trips. At St. Francis, she was part of the regular crew of mothers who made each Thursday special - hot dog day! During the Fall, Sandy could be found with the other mothers in the St. Francis School cafeteria, working tirelessly making fudge, divinity, peanut brittle, and other treats for the St. Francis School Fiesta. As the kids got older, Sandy volunteered at Garces Memorial High School in the cafeteria and was a proud member of the Garces School Board of Education. Family, education, and faith were very important to Sandy.
In the late 1970's, Sandy attended Bakersfield College, graduating with an A.S. degree in Medical Assisting and went to work in a medical office. Sandy was the glue of this close-knit family. Sandy loved to cross-stitch, needlepoint, paint, read, and craft. She loved her grandchildren: Stephen, Aiden, Olivia, and Stella. They were fortunate to get to know their Grandma Sandy. We all love you very much.
Her husband Frank, daughters Francine and Teresa, and her brother Robert await her in heaven. She is also survived by sister-in-law Carol and Francine's husband Fred.
A celebration of life mass will be held at Christ the King Church on October 14, 2022, at 10 a.m., followed by a reception at Hodel's restaurant.
