Sherie Bikakis Obituary

On June 12, 2008, Sherie Louise Bikakis passed peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. Sherie Braden was born in Bakersfield, CA on November 13, 1936. She attended local schools and graduated from Est High School class of 1955. After graduation, Sherie left Bakersfield to become a flight attendant with American Airlines. She met her husband, Chuck Bikakis, a Marine Corps Officer, on a blind date. The two were married on October 23, 1962. Sherie had many interests, talents and hobbies. She loved her pets and actively supported local shelters. She was a member of Bakersfield Racquet Club and enjoyed her many friends in various club activities. She enjoyed the theatre, especially the musicals and taking vacations with family and friends. Her greatest delight was being Nana to her grandchildren, although her illness interrupted this dream. Sherie was preceded in death by her mother and father, Charles and Gertrude Braden. She is survived by her husband, Chuck; daughter, Cari (Jon) Lifquist; son, Nick (Holly) Bikakis and daughter, Suzy (Vicky) Bikakis; eight grandchildren: Calvin, Paige, Mara and Ann Lifquist; Beau, Zack and Kosta Bikakis; grandson, Aras Scotlini Bikakis; sister, Suzanne Braden; nieces, Nicole Dobrazanski, Danielle Mendiburu; and favorite nephew, Joe Mendiburu. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alpha Canine in Sherie's name. No services. Sherie, we love you, will miss you, but are so happy you are finally at peace. May her memory be eternal. Sherie was a great friend and I loved playing tennis and bridge with her. She is at peace now and I hope her family will find peace.Charlie, you gave her the best of care.
What fond memories I have of the birthday trip to Jackson. I will never forget that Sherie admitted that my fried chicken was as good as the Kansas City chicken. We all had wonderful times at Camp Nelson. Our dinner get togethers never lack for great conversation. Greek Easter was always fun with great food and drink.
Rest in peace my dear freind.

Dear Bikakis Family,
Sherie was my girls' preschool teacher at La Cresta and our favorite memory was Miss Sherie and Miss Lynn's Stone soup concoction made with a real stone which we all got to taste, and it was so delicious. We have lots of beautiful memories of Sherie and I will never forget her big smile and happy laugh. She was just the nicest person and I am grateful to have known her. God Bless her.
Our Sincerest Condolences,
Linka, Tim Chapman and girls
