Teddy Barnard Obituary

TEDDY BROWN BARNARD, JR.

December 23, 1948 – May 26, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Teddy Brown Barnard, Jr., affectionately known as Brownie on May 26, 2024. He was in his favorite place, his ranch in Woody, CA., which gives us such comfort.

Born on December 23, 1948, to Teddy Brown "Papa Ted" Barnard and Edna "Eddie" Lewis Barnard, Brownie loved his Kern County roots, graduated from West High School, and furthered his studies at Cal Poly SLO.

Brownie lived a life that was a testament to his cowboy spirit and love for adventure. At his core, he embodied the cowboy lifestyle and brought that spirit into every aspect of his life. An accomplished team roper, Brownie was a proud Gold Card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). His achievements in team roping and his dedication to the rodeo community were just a few of the many ways he demonstrated his cowboy prowess. Brownie was also a proud member of the Los Flojos Camp of Rancheros Visitadores, never missing a ride since 1979. His connection with this esteemed group was a source of pride and camaraderie throughout his life.

He was a remarkable businessman, with 45 years of experience in the crude oil transportation industry. Brownie's dedication to his trucking company allowed him to follow his passion for ranching where he found so much happiness throughout his life. He was highly respected by his peers in the transportation, oil, and ranching communities for his unwavering integrity and generosity towards all.

Brownie's life was rich with experiences as he embraced the roles of father, Papa, cowboy, horseman, cattleman, pilot, diver, skier, boatman, hunter, and fisherman. He lived life on a grand scale, experiencing more in his lifetime than most could ever imagine. Brownie's legacy is one of adventure, love, and an unyielding cowboy spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Brownie was an extraordinary father, a devoted partner, and a cherished friend to many.

Brownie leaves behind a loving family: his older son Zachary Brown Barnard and his wife Haley, along with their children Billie and Easton Brown; his younger son Cody James Barnard and his wife Jaenna, with their children Truitt, Jessep, and Bennett. He is also survived by his partner of nearly 20 years, Kathe Sickles, and her sons Kristofer Kaiser and his wife Olivia, with their children Hudson and Siena; and Jason Kaiser and his wife Morgan, with their children Anistyn and Austyn. Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved sister Dana Knowlton and her husband Herb and nephew Nick Puma.

Please join us for Brownie's Celebration of Life, Friday, June 21, 2024 at 10 AM at the White Star Ranch located at 4246 Heath Road, Bakersfield, CA 93314.

I remember him when Brownie, my uncle Cal Parks, and Hickory Barnard went on a fishing trip. We rode horses to the site where we camped and fished. We had a blast! Good memory from the 1950s'

Brownie and I go back to elementary school through jr high to our freshman and sophomore years at BHS then in the first graduating class at West High School in 1967. We shared so many experiences growing up. It´s impossible to name them all. Brownie was alway a great friend and confidant.
We be lost contact for a few years but I always knew he was a friend I could count on. A true cowboy and a true friend. I will miss him. Rest easy my old buddy from way back. See you on the other side.

Have many childhood memories of Brownie, riding, roping, hanging out at the corrals, sleeping over night in the desert as kids. Lost touch, but will always have the memories. Rest easy my friend.
