Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2002, at 9:30 a.m., in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 316 A Street, Bakersfield, California, for Tola Joy Talbot, 87, who passed away Sunday, August 25, 2002, at her sons home. Bishop Steve Austin will officiate.
Tola was born on March 1, 1915 in Nephi, Utah. She was the eighth of 11 children of John and Mary Garrett Boswell. She was raised in Nephi and moved to California in 1935. She married Charles LeRoy Talbot March 6, 1935 in Inglewood, California. Twin sons were born to them while living in Inglewood. They raised their family in Compton and Downey. After her husband retired from the Long Beach Naval Shipyard, they moved to Bakersfield in 1983 to be near their son and grandchildren.
Tola was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had served in many leadership and service positions. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spent as much time with them as she could. She was the perfect mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, always caring for, giving to, and serving her family. Her gentle love and unselfish devotion to her family will have an influence on many generations of her descendants.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, John LeRoy, her parents, and six sisters. She is survived by her son, Ronald and daugher-in-law, Linda; grandchildren, Chris and Kelly Talbot; John and Loreli Talbot; Marci and Brad Haines; Amy and Robert Farnsworth; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hailey and Sydney Talbot, Cody, Kacey, and Baylee Talbot, Nathan and Marissa Haines, Britton and Brady Farnsworth; brothers, Wallace Boswell of Provo, Utah; and Joseph Boswell of Springville, Utah.
