Vincent Zaninovich Obituary

VINCENT JOHN ZANINOVICH

August 19, 1947 - November 10, 2021

Vincent John Zaninovich, beloved father, husband, and friend died unexpectedly on November 10 in Redvale, Colorado. He was 74 years old. Vincent was the second of five children born to Rosalie and John Zaninovich in Bakersfield. He grew up in Delano and attended Delano High School where he enjoyed racing his car against any willing challengers. He later served in the National Guard.

He worked alongside his father, brothers, and uncles as a table grape farmer. Together they grew VBZ and Sons into a powerful presence within the grape community. The company was his pride and joy and he learned every aspect of the farming operation from the soil up.

Vincent valued his family and friends, spending time with them, and feeding them with his renowned barbecues. There was never any shortage of food. Away from the ranch, he enjoyed hunting deer and elk in Colorado and fishing the Rogue River for salmon in Oregon. Often he made his own fishing tackle, and was intent on catching the biggest haul of the outing, but was equally thrilled when someone else in his boat caught the big one.

Vincent received his pilots license when he was younger. He found relaxation riding his horses and mules. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Stephanie Fisher and Joanne Tudor.

Those left to remember him fondly are his wife Donna, brothers Mark and Marty Zaninovich, his sons John, Ryan and daughter-in-law Carrie, Dominic and daughter-in-law Briana, and daughters Kelli Chrie Benevedes, and Elizabeth Darrington and son-in-law Matt. Vincent is also survived by his stepchildren Mike Shine and his wife Carrie, and Julie Crawford and her husband Rod, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on December 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Celebration of Life Center at Greenlawn Southwest, 2739 Panama Lane, Bakersfield. Pallbearers will be John, Ryan, Marty, Mark and Dominic Zaninovich, Christian Tudor, Mike Shine, and Matt Darrington. Honorary Pallbearers will be George Caratan, Jerry Chicca, Rod Crawford, and Evan Shine.

In lieu of flowers, Vincent's memory may be honored with a donation to the American Heart Association, 404 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, CA, 93301.
