Wanda Gale Balk 1934 - 2009 Wood Family Funeral Service I went home to Glory at the age of 74... Praise the Lord. God brought me into this world on a small island, Washington Island, Wisconsin, to two humble parents, Katherine and Harry Hansen. They raised my three brothers, Dean, Meryl, Claude, and my sister, Ione, all who have passed before me. Let me share with you a few major events in my life, for which I am truly blessed; First, I accepted Christ as my personal Savior while in my teens, attending Kenosha Bible Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It was here that I met my Husband Jim and have been married to him for over 57 years. I was blessed with 4 wonderful Christian children, Alan, David, Gale and Mark who have blessed me with 9 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. Finally, I was blessed with a life of gratitude for my Salvation and desire to lead others to this life of joy and peace, through my personal witness and music. Since arriving in California in 1956, I have always played a musical role for His glory, in church. I served the Lord as a choir member at Valley Bible Church in Northridge, the Organist and Soloist at Simi Valley Bible Church, then finally upon our retirement to Tehachapi in 1987, having helped to establish Stallion Springs Community Church, I spent the next 5 years as their Song Leader, Choir Director and Soloist, until the Lord led us to Grace Fellowship Church where I have been serving as Worship Leader for these past 5 years. We have always been a very musical family and often join in singing praises to our Lord. If I can leave you with anything, let my passing be in memory of my joyful life in song, praise and worship with you and my family. My wish for you is that you might experience the peace, Love and joy I have found in Jesus Christ, for after all... We will be separated for only a short time. Isn't that wonderful? A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 14th, at 1:00 p.m., at Stallion Springs Community Church, 18157 St. Andrews Drive, Stallion Springs. A reception will follow at the home of the Balks. Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. is handling the arrangements.
