William Maynor Obituary

William J. Maynor 1942 - 2012 "Bill" Maynor died January 2nd at home in McKinleyville, California, after a long illness. He was born March 31st, 1942, to Arlen and May Maynor in Visalia, CA. An only child, his father was an honored Marine who served as a recruiter after discharge so the family moved often as he was growing up. They lived in New York, North Carolina, and Long Beach before Bill moved to Fresno to attend Fresno State University to study criminal justice. There he met his future wife, Leah Maynor, and they were married for 36 years before she passed away from cancer in 2001. Bill worked for the County of Kern for many years before taking an early retirement due to poor health. He was a probation officer, juvenile court referee, Division Director of the county's Probation Department and Director of Camp Owens, a correctional camp for juveniles in Kernville, CA. In 2005, Bill built his dream home in Humboldt County and moved there to be closer to his kids and grandkids. Throughout his life, he enjoyed his family, his dogs, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and playing poker. Though his health began to decline at an early age, he never complained but instead got up every day with an incredible will to live. He was a wonderful father and provider who cared deeply for his family. Bill was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. He is survived by his son Blaine Maynor and his wife Jennifer Rishel, his daughter Audrey Maynor and her husband Thomas Blair, and four grandchildren. Per his wishes, no services will be held. www.bakersfield.com/obits
