A. McClung Obituary

A. Keith McClung Jr. died in Baltimore on Saturday, 16 May, 2015. He was 80 years old. Keith was the first son of "Mac" and Florence McClung of Hartford W. VA. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1956 with degree in Political Science. He was deeply involved in campus activities and the Sigma Chi fraternity. Keith married Sandra Foley in 1957 and completed his Harvard Law School degree in 1959. The McClungs moved to Charleston, West Virginia where Keith practiced law; first with Jackson, Kelly, Holt, and O'Farrell, and then with Lively and Francis. Their children, Alex and Martha were both born in Charleston. Keith served in the West Virginia National Guard and was activated for a short time during the Berlin Wall crisis in 1961. Between 1968 and 1974, Keith's career with Commercial Credit took the family to Baltimore, then to Detroit, and then back to Baltimore, where Keith became the General Counsel. He retired in 1998 after 27 years with the company. Keith took great interest in his family and his West Virginia roots. He was resourceful handyman and home improvement specialist, enthusiastic birdwatcher, member of the Society of Colonial Wars, and a member of the Saint George's Society of Baltimore. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra, children Martha and Alex, and grandchildren Weston, Madelyn, and Spencer. A memorial service will be held at the Church of the Redeemer, 5603 North Charles Street, on Friday, May 29 at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow. Please omit flowers.
