Angela Pond Obituary

Angela (Kay Dubbert) Wilson Pond, artist and educator, dies on September 20, 2025. She was 82.

Angela was a devoted partner, faithful friend, talented artist, dedicated mother and determined professional. She cared deeply for her family and built lasting friendships on every step in her journey.

One of five children raised in Gamber, Maryland, Angela was organized, resolute, hard-working and stylish. She sought to help others and cultivate friendships. Creative and curious, Angela was awarded a senatorial scholarship to attend the Maryland Institute of Fine Arts (MICA), where she embraced new ideas and established her skills as an artist. After graduation, she earned a Masters of Fine Arts at Boston University, and launched her teaching and education career at Boston Public Schools. While working and pursuing a Doctor of Education, she became a loving mom of two girls.

After eighteen years in the Boston area, Angela reconnected with her high school sweetheart, remarried and moved to Towson, Maryland. Angela and Rob formed a blended family of five children and a succession of beloved cats and a dog. Together, they built an enduring, happy life together - balancing careers, children, church, family and friends.

Angela began a new professional chapter in Baltimore as Director of Family Programs at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. She guided students and their families through hundreds of educational programs and adventures across the country and the globe from the Galápagos Islands to Scotland and Tanzania. She depicted her travel experiences through landscape watercolor paintings.

She loved to sing and was a member of several church choirs, as well as the Larks, and Parkinsonics. An accomplished artist, Angela supported stages and art galleries as well as her beloved MICA. She belonged to The Three Arts Club of Homeland and the Woman's Club of Roland Park and loved her companions in bridge.

Angela cherished her five children and six grandchildren. She supported and encouraged their growth, security, and happiness. Her spirit and dedication will always be with them across their challenges and successes.

She is also survived by her younger siblings - Susan Buckworth and Dennis Dubbert, and her loving husband and best friend, Rob Pond. She will be missed by the large community of friends, colleagues, artists and neighbors whom she impacted in each chapter of her life.

A celebration of Angela's life will be held at Charlestown United Protestant Church in Catonsville, Maryland on November 3, 2025, at 9:30am.

Angela donated her body for scientific research for Parkinson's Disease. Even though she suffered through painful changes of her illness, Angela was hopeful that families affected by Parkinson's might have a better road in the future. To help support her wishes and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research: https://tribute.michaeljfox.org/tribute-page.php?id=3341

In the fall of 1964 Angela became my roommate at MICA that was the beginning of a 60 year friendship. We always lived in different locations but we shared many events. From collage students to marriage and parent hood & grandparenting, love and loss. It was my privilege to spend several days at the end holding her hand laughing crying and saying goodby to my dear "Angie Kay" with love "Francie May"
