Anthony Popp Obituary

Anthony Vincent Popp Sr. (Vince), age 62, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully at home in Littlestown, PA, on June 2nd, 2024. Vince was born on November 6th, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended St. Anthonys of Padua and graduated from Calvert Hall High. His life was a tapestry of self-taught hobbies, which earned him his nickname, MacGyver or Jack of all trades.

Vince was an avid boater, crabber, gardener, hunter, and butcher. He also held a black belt in Hapkido and Tae Kwan Do that he earned alongside his son. Vince also enjoyed carpentry and building and built his family home by hand. He began working for BGE in June of 1994 as a distribution designer and moved to New Business in 2005, where he was a customer rep and energy analyst. During this time, Vince devoted himself to raising his family and furthering his education while attending night school at Essex Community College, where he earned a degree in engineering. In 2014, Vince was promoted to the lead senior engineering specialist at BGE, spending a total of 30 years with the company.

Vince was a man of immense skill and dedication, always striving for excellence in his chosen profession. Beyond his professional endeavors, Vince found time to coach various youth sports. He also ran a successful cobbler business, where he applied his craftsmanship and attention to detail to the repair and restoration of footwear. Vince was also devoted to his faith and church. As a dedicated servant to his church, Emerge in Hanover, PA, he selflessly offered his time and talents to his community.

He is survived by his father, Kermit W. Popp Jr., Kermit's wife, Geri Popp, his mother, Rose Jeppi, sister K. Wendy Popp, and her family. He was the beloved husband of 31 years to Terri Popp, father of daughters Nichole Popp, Lindsay Perrera, Allison Perrera, and his son Anthony Vincent Popp Jr. (Tony) and his wife, Lauren. His legacy continues through his precious grandchildren: Isaiah, Elijah, Josiah, Salandina, Bain, and Iris.

Viewing and services will be held at Emerge Church in Hanover, PA on June 10th, 2024. The viewing is at 12pm-2pm and the service is at 2pm-4pm. Followed by a private burial. A celebration of life will be held at 392 Schottie Road Littlestown, PA on July 17th, 2024 from 3pm-6pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Baltimore Station at https://baltimorestation.org/donate/, an organization Vince felt strongly about. May his memory serve as a reminder of the extraordinary impact one person can have when they live a life driven by purpose, kindness, and unwavering dedication.

Dearest Wendy, Mr. Bill, and Miss Rose. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your precious Vincent. I fondly remember spending time at your house with all of you and Shag the dog. No matter what Wendy and I were doing, Vincent was always there participating and wanting to be included. He was a gracious younger brother, kind and friendly and perfectly adorable. My heart aches for your Loss and I wish more than anything that we could experience those wonderful times again. I will always treasure those happy memories and the kindness of your family. " I could have told you, Vincent, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you." Love, Terry

My Condolences to the Popp Family. I was totally shocked hearing the news about Vince. I work with Vince at BGE sitting a few rows from him. I knew Vince since our St. Anthony days. We both were on the same baseball teams at Radecke Park for many years growing up. I pitched and he was my catcher. We had great times back then. We both lost track of each other over the years until we both met back up at BGE. It was like no time had passed, we always talked about the old neighborhood, family, kids and retirement. We always had time to chat with each other when passing at work. He was a great guy and I will surely miss him.

Vince and I were next door neighbors and our Birthday's were 3 days apart. He was one of my closest friends. We were so different yet so much alike. We were each other's 1st kiss. We were in and out of each other's lives as we grew older, but always tried to keep in touch. Then him and Terry bought a beach house not far from me and we got to spend time together again. He was like a 3rd brother to me...a nice brother. Last time we saw each other we all went crabing on his boat. It's sad cause that was about 8 yrs ago. We loss touch again. I love you Vince!! You will always have a special place in my heart. Til we see each other again.

I have to have to share more of my experiences about Vince. I invited him to go along with me some time ago this was an event that He was proud of and I myself as A Veteran of the Army. Vince and I teamed up on the stove to make this meal that the menu was set by Boone Popp. He was so happy I was so as well we were cooking a meal for a small Army. This meal had instructions from Vince: this will fill you up the preparation was unlike any cook could do in the military. The meat had to be turned a specific way, the sauce had to be poured and sifted a certain way. noodles in the water sir, the meal was so professionally done by the two of us but more, so I was following his lead The meal was Beef Macaroni with yellow cheese melted over the top. Two large military type cooking trays. After we cooked the meal, we would serve the members and staff at the mission Vince would push his way to the front to serve. He was so proud to have had that opportunity to give to others. Thanks for the great times we spent together no matter what it was we had fun doing it. Baseball games him I I would go the extra mile for fun, love of each other's company. He excepted my Grand Marnier into whatever we set out to do. My last time seeing my friend was 1-31-24 at my retirement party. We spoke still and I made him some of my worlds famous Banana Nut Bread. He loved it... Thanks for all of our memories together. You were one in a million Goodbye for now Mr. Anthony Vincet Popp Sr.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I worked with Vince for the last 20 years and he was an amazing person. I'm sure he did, but Vince never seemed to have a bad day. He was always there for a quick conversation, life advice, or technical support at work. I will miss my friend.

Vince will truly be missed by so many. His personality was one that made who ever he was talking to feel comfortable and appreciated. He would always leave me smiling in any situation. He was definitely one of Gods special creations that we were blessed to have here on earth for a short time. I can only pray that I am blessed to meet him again when i get to heaven. I pray for the family during this unexpected loss.

Popp Family, It was such a joy to meet and get to know Vince. Our conversations spanned from Engineering to his amazing gravy, to Venison; in fact he promised me a log this coming winter. Vince was an absolute Jewel of a person. His smile was delightful and shined a light on any stressful situation. He was extremely passionate about his work; and it showed. Thank you for sharing him with us, if only for a moment. My condolences to you, sending a huge hug.

To Vince's family, I send my condolences and will keep you in my prayers. I was a co-worker of Vince at BGE and while I did not work directly with him over the years, I always enjoyed our conversations and the work interactions that we did share. Vince always had a smile on his face. Rest in Peace Vince.
