Arthur Payne Obituary

PAYNE , Arthur Raymond On July 27, 2013 Arthur Raymond "Hair" Payne; It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow that I must announce the passing of Arthur Payne, known by most as Hair and affectionately called Uncle Hair by many. He passed from this world peacefully on Saturday morning to join his mother and sister who had passed before him. As he never married, he left no immediate family but is survived by brother-in-law, Doyle Shreve Sr.; two nephews, Bill Shreve and wife Susan, Doyle Shreve Jr.; three nieces, Bonnie Shreve, Susan Loudenslager, Lisa Markley and husband Joe along with all of their children and grandchildren.
Arthur did not wish to have an open funeral service so cremation and interment will be privately held by the family. Hair worked in the Outdoor Amusement Business most of his life and in the true spirit of the Carney he was, a Celebration of Life will be held for him at the end of this year's carnival season to allow his carnival friends to attend. The celebration will be held in late October with the date and location to be determined. Anyone wishing to receive this information when it is available should provide contact information to Bill Shreve as follows: email to [email protected]; call and leave a message at 240-607-2937; or mail to 8549 Cardinal Lane, White Plains, MD 20695. Happy travels Uncle Hair you will be missed by us all!

I remember Mr. Hair from my Toreador days. He was a kind man and was wonderful to be around. My most fond memory is when we all went to Ocean City, and Mr. Hair took the kids to the arcade. We all ran out of money, so he gave everyone handfuls of dimes so we could still play the games! I will always remember him warmly. God rest his soul.
