Rex was the father of my elementary school best freind, Mark. Throughout the 60s and early 70s the Hellmans were a fine positive influence on my young life, everything from adventure gaming with Mark to having my first crush on Paula. Many happy memories of sleepovers and visits as a boy and young teen. Rex was part of the internationalist milleu enjoyed by any kid growing up in the D.C. burbs, which led in turn to my career choice as an international petroleum geologist which led ultimately to me winding up in Texas as an adult after living overseas many years. I am glad to know he died surrounded by his fine family, and I wish them every comfort in the future.
