Carolyn McTernan Obituary

Carolyn McTernan of Havre de Grace, MD passed away from ovarian cancer while surrounded by her family on October 31, 2022 at the age of 83. She was born on April 26,1939 in Hondo, TX. She met her husband Dennis at the Catholic Young Adults Club in Bethesda, MD and were married on July 22, 1972 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Potomac, MD. She was the beloved wife of Dennis for more than 50 years. She is survived by her husband Dennis McTernan, her children Michael McTernan, Brian McTernan, Peter McTernan, daughters-in-law Marissa McTernan, Amber Lombardo, Minu Aghevli, grandchildren Cassidy, Neela, Hailey and Carter. She looked forward to family vacations in Rehoboth Beach, DE where she enjoyed sitting on the beach with family and friends. She sang in the choir at Little Flower Church in Bethesda, MD and enjoyed following the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. She had a masters degree in Speech Pathology from George Washington University in Washington, DC, worked as a speech therapist for Easter Seals in Falls Church VA, Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, Rockville, MD and with private patients. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Jo Nelson of Owatonna, MN and her parents Della and Marion McDowell of Hondo, TX. Burial at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.

Carolyn was one of the kindest, sweetest women I know. She always had a pleasant smile, even when she was sick, and a loving heart. Rest. in peace.
