Dear Susan,
I just heard an hour ago about Carroll. No words could express to you and your family how terribly saddened I am to hear this. I go back to TC in 1958 so I went to school with all three boys. Tom was in my class and remained one of my closest friends his entire life.
I also became very close to Carroll when he was at Maryland. I've thought about him so much since Tom passed away, wondering how he was doing.
I've got so many stories about the Vaniks it would fill a book. All good!!!
Please accept my truly heartfelt sympathy.
With life long live and caring

Uncle Carroll was a member of a small group of amazing, loving and terrific uncles who were able to show us how to enjoy people, life and life events. It is funny because when I remember these guys, I remember that all my uncles cared about how they were seen by us younger people, be it good times or rough they tried to make life manageable for all of us. Carroll was an awesome person to be with. God bless him and his family. Love, Leslie and family.

My sincere condolences to you and your family. Carroll was a class mate at TC. The last time I saw him was at our 50th class reunion. Good memories were discussed and enjoyed. My best to you and your family. Bob Haag

Those we love don't go away.
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very
dear.
Carroll was a wonderful person and I feel privileged to have met him at so many of your family gatherings. I remember his smile and charm. Our deepest, heartfelt condolences for your loss.

Carroll Vanik was a true gem! While he was my boss at Dial, it is his friendship and positive energy that I will remember as his trademark. He was always fun to be around, and truly cared about people. My sincere condolences to Susan and his family. We all share in your loss of a great person gone too soon.

A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, it broke my heart to see you go, God only takes the best, they say that memories are golden, well maybe that is true, but we didn't just want memories, we just would like to still have you, your life was full of love, your love for your family was true, you did your best to keep us laughing and for that we'll always remember you, we heard the word your were fading but we knew there was nothing we could do, our lips can't speak how we loved you, our hearts can not tell what to say, but God only knows how we miss you already I love you Uncle Carol give pop pop (Billy) a big hug for me

Carroll Vanik was a singularly great man. I am sure many will look back at his long list of accomplishments, and conclude he was a success, which, undoubtedly, he was. However, the Carroll Vanik I knew never measured his success by job title, salary, or office-space. The Carroll Vanik I knew used love as a yardstick to measure his success -- how many lives he could touch with that love -- how many smiles for which he was responsible -- and how many people he could help. I was blessed enough to have been the recipient of this love, having grown up and gone to school with his son, Michael -- who, like his father, is a brilliant, loving husband, father, and man.
I will never forget Carroll. I refer to lessons I learned from him as a child even today, as my joints age, and my hair grays. He was truly a once-in-a-lifetime individual, and even though it has been decades since I've had the pleasure of his company, my world is smaller and less bright for his absence.
