I met Carvey in 1955 when I joined the Baltimore Society of Model Engineers, so he was a friend and mentor for 59 years. It's hard to think 7 years has passed since we lost him. So fitting that he's buried in Loudon Park, the cemetery with it's own streetcar line. One of out Saturday outings was a tour of the route and remnants of that line in 1959, 30 years after its abandonment. Carvey had ridden it in its last year as a 5-year-old and had vivid memories. It was not until his passing that I learned of his heroic actions at Anzio in World Wat II.

Carvey's legacy lives on at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum in the form of car 7303 which he donated to the Museum. Many of our members recall the good times we had with Carvey.

I'm very sorry to see this. Carvey and I walked a lot of track together when he was an FRA inspector and I was a young foreman with Conrail. He was full of information and we had many a long conversations as we walked many miles of track in the old Philadelphia division.

Carvey was a great friend. I met him at the Baltimore Society of Model Engineers decades ago. He attended major events, like the annual Birthday Party, regularly. Always dressed snappily, always genteel, Carvey had a story. What a delight it was to talk with him. I learned much about trolleys and modeling from Carvey - he was always willing to share his knowledge and answer my questions. He invited me to see his layout and run trains, which I did. I really miss him.

Carvey was very knowledgeable about Baltimore's streetcars. I recall riding with him on the #15 line. I enjoyed hearing his stories about his days as a streetcar operator.

Carvey was a great and long time supporter of the Streetcar Museum and he will be missed very much. He joined the Museum in the early 1970's and was member number 354: he was a great guy, always smiling and ready to help. The Museum held a testimonial for him on May 4, 2013 and the picture is of him cutting the cake that day assisted by myself. We all had a great time and enjoyed his stories of his days as a motorman for the Transit Company.

I joined the Baltimore Streetcar Museum 14 years ago and have had the pleasure of knowing Carvey since I joined. He was always the guy at the museum with a big smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye, ready to lend a hand or a dollar. We can thank Carvey for the beginning of an amazing expansion of our historic collection of streetcars for his financing the purchase of 7303 - an original St. Louis built car of the exact type which he used to operate of and was extremely fond. Carvey was an amazing encyclopedia of history, his photos and home movies were among the best collections of Baltimore streetcar history, and his model train collection was legendary. More importantly, Carvey had a good heart, was a kind and decent guy. I love the picture of him motoring 417 in 1954 when the collection was paraded down Frederick Road from Irvington when the Maryland Historical Society took possession of the collection. I also remember the day 7303 was delivered to BSM as it was being slowly rolled off the flatbed truck the piece of the frame that was attached to the chain broke and the car rolled down and literally crashed to the ground causing minor damage to the fenders. Carvey's response, with his characteristic smile was, "well that didn't sound good!" We will all miss Carvey so much at the Baltimore Streetcar Museum.
Loved his streetcars!!
