Catherine Chapman Obituary

The daughter of John T. Sadler and Emily Merryman Sadler was born and raised in Cockeysville on their family farm on Wight Avenue next to her Grandmother's farm Gerah. She attended the Garrison Forest School, graduating in the class of 1947 where she excelled as an equestrian on her family horse Toots. In her youth she competed on her pony Melody in Madison Square Garden as a member of the Hunt Team. She went on from Garrison to Bennett College in Millbrook New York where she completed her major in Drama and Dance.

Married to Edwin N. Chapman of Ruxton in 1949 and moved to Circle Road in 1952 until his death in 2018. She shared her college experience as a member of the Ruxton Players at the Church of Good Shepherd when the Church was the center of the Ruxton social life. Kitty was 93 when she passed away at College Manor on December 4th. An active member of the L'Hirondelle club for 70 years as an avid tennis and paddle tennis player while working on numerous committees at the club over the years. With a keen eye for fashion and design she worked at the Elizabeth Christmas Store in Riderwood for many years. One of the first to join Curves and her aerobics classes and water aerobics, where she continued until her late 80's. She is survived by their three children, Edwin N. Chapman Jr. of Hamburg Germany, Robert F. Chapman (Faye), Laguna Beach California, and Margaret Chapman Tiano (Austin), Pittsboro North Carolina, and her Grandson Robert F. Chapman Jr. (Sarah), Bend Oregon.

A brief gravesite service to be held at Druid Ridge Cemetery at 12:00 Noon on May 6th followed by a luncheon at L'Hirondelle Club at 1:00 PM.
