Catherine Weckel Obituary

Catherine Dwyer Weckel, age 89, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Catherine was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas Dwyer and Marion (O'Hearn) Dwyer.

Catherine was the loving and devoted wife of Edward C. Weckel. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, family, and meaningful memories. She was a proud and nurturing mother to Charles Weckel, Thomas Weckel, Mary Weckel Anderson, John Weckel, and William Weckel.

Catherine's legacy continues through her nine cherished grandchildren and two beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sister Mary Assumpta Dwyer, and preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Dwyer, and John Dwyer.

Catherine was a woman of great intellect and warmth. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, and later obtained a master's degree in teaching from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Although her professional training was in education, Catherine believed her most important and fulfilling job was caring for her family and creating a loving home.

An active and vibrant woman throughout her life, Catherine enjoyed playing Bridge, gardening, hiking, bike riding, and skiing. She embraced each day with grace and a generous spirit.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Catherine's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
