Charles Flagle Obituary



Charles Denhard Flagle, professor emeritus at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, died of pneumonia on September 4, 2016 at Blakehurst Retirement Community in Towson. He was 97. Dr. Flagle was well known for bringing the field of operations research and the use of technology to the forefront of public health. Surviving Dr. Flagle are his daughter Judith E. Anderson of Sequim, Washington; his son Douglas A. Flagle of Towson; his stepdaughter Elizabeth D. Stephens of Scarsdale, New York; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 41 years, Janet W. Flagle, and his oldest son, C. Lawrence Flagle. He had earlier been married for 16 years to Lois H. Flagle, who died in 1963. A memorial service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 5603 N. Charles Street, at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 20th. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Charles D. Flagle Fund at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Office of External Affairs, Suite E-2132, 615 North Wolfe Street, Baltimore, MD 21205.

Sad to read about Dr Charles Flagle passing . I spoke to him in 2015 and we talked about Dean Rob Roy .
Dr Flagle was my professor and he was on my oral board for PhD in 1963.
He was extremely busy with multiple duties but took time for me .
