We always thought the world of Derek. He dedicated so much of his life to coaching and he possessed a special gift in that role. As a spectator, we could always tell how much he loved watching you three boys play with such passion on the field. We so appreciated his kindness, keen sense of humor and above all, his dedication to his family. He was a family man through and through and we all loved him for that. He will be missed and you will be in our thoughts & prayers during this difficult time.

I just learned about Dereks passing. He was a peer and friend of mine way back in our early GE days. By far, one of the best people and most genuine Ive encountered in my lifetime. I am truly saddened for his loss at such a young age and pray for his wife and boys and I hope they can remember all of the cherished moments spent together.

He was one of the most genuine, decent human beings on the planet and a dear friend. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Beth and boys. No words can express what we would like to share. Just know your husband/dad made an impact on so many people in our community and in your lives...our family included. You are all in our prayers and thoughts. The Francis Family.

Derek was a great guy. Took me under his wing when I moved to Connecticut and showed me the ropes at working at a GE headquarters. My condolences to his family for this tragic lost. He will surely be missed.
