Dear Lynne and Phyllis,
I am so sorry to hear about Don. I just found out today. When I didn't see him at York last week I wrote him an e-mail asking if everything was okay.
As you both know, he was one of the nicest people anyone could ever meet. He was so kind to me over the years, going back to when I went to his home to make last minute train purchases before Christmas when my children were still young. He always had a smile on his face. I will truly, truly miss him. He was a real gentleman in the best sense of the word.
Sincerely,
Greg McCormack

Lynne....it is heartbreaking to have recently learned of Don's passing.

We met Donny about ten years ago at a Greenberg train show. Bill and Don hit it off immediately with their great sense of humor. Not a show would go by whereby one of them would play or say a joke on the other. There was laughter by all!

There was always a smile on Don's face, and yet he was caring, kind and serious when the need arose! He was truly a good man!

He was fortunate to have found you. The two of you were a special couple....always laughing together!

Our thoughts and prayers will always be for you and the Borneman family.

I have known Don since we were at Ridgely Jr. High and then Dulaney. He always had a smile on his face and was quick with a joke.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Don will be missed by so many of us.
He was such a good person. Again, please accept my sincerest condolences.

I knew Don since our days in College. We worked together at Unitote/Regitel in Towson MD and then at WMATA. During all these years I never saw him without a smile and he always put a smile on my face. I will miss him greatly

Don and I spent many days in the trenches at WMATA. He always remained cool, calm and collected when everyone else was in a tizzy. Don was always the voice of reason in the MOC. You are and will be missed by family and friends.

I am just heartbroken over Don's death. We worked together in OCC at Metro for years. We stayed in touch after I left, and enjoyed teasing each other on Facebook. So many of my friends got to know him through his humorous posts, and they are saddened by the silence. Everyone who interacted with Don felt they knew him.

Nick and Josh, I remember when your mom passed how he talked about getting you guys through the tough times.

You were so lucky to have him in your life.

Lynne, I am so sorry for your loss. You are truly fortunate to have had such a good man care about you.

I never saw Don without a smile. And I will always hear the echo of him telling everyone he is "Fan-tastic!"

God bless.

Our Deepest sympathy to your family and Lynne. Your sweet smile and kindness will be sorely missed. I was blessed to know you for almost 40 years and never a bad word spoken about Big Don! There's not been a nicer person to walk this planet than you. You are loved, cherished and will always be remembered. I am grateful to have shared your life and friendship. You will be forever welcome "under my tree". Until we meet again my dear friend, not goodbye, rather see you on the other side.

Our last concert, just days ago, God only knows What I'll do without you. We danced and had so much fun. Who knew I would really need to ask

Lynne, Nick, and Josh. Thank you for sharing your love, your father and soul, with us. We will miss Don greatly. He was a shining light in the darkness and a happy reminder of what is good in all of us. Trains introduced us, and kept us together. Chuck and I always looked forward to seeing Don and Lynne's smiling faces at a variety of train shows. Know that we all have been blessed by knowing him.

After being with Don and Lynne at the train show last Sunday, I am saddened beyond belief to be notified this morning. Don so loved life and shared it whether putting nitrous to the Dodge Charger on Bladensburg Rd or recounting the air conditioner falling on his vintage car in Cape May...we always had a laugh. My sincerest condolences to Lynne, Nick and Josh who's childhood he shared with us. May the Holy Spirit console you.
