Donald Pyles Obituary

Donald Edward Pyles "Don", 69 years, a retired Engineer and Veteran of the U.S. Navy, died September 21, 2018 at his home in Freeland, MD. Born September 20, 1949, in Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of the late Raymond Milton and Dorothy Alcott Pyles. Mr. Pyles grew up in Baltimore, MD. He graduated from St. Paul Latin High School and attended Resurrection College and University of Maryland. In 1968, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in Greece for six years where he learned the simulation and configuration of radar systems. After returning home, he worked for Westinghouse, later bought out by Northrop Grumman for 35 years. In 1978 Don met and married Patricia Ann Blevins (Patty). After a few years living in Baltimore, they moved to their current home in Freeland, MD. Don was an avid sports fan including football, baseball, and basketball. He was particularly fond of the Baltimore Ravens. He also enjoyed antiquing and history. Mr. Pyles is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Patty Pyles, brothers, Kenneth Pyles of Towson, MD, his wife Connie, and sons Isaac and Simon; Kevin Pyles of Columbia, MD and wife Peggy; Keith Pyles of Pittsburgh, PA, his wife Robin and 4 children Caitlin, Kiera, Connor, and Jonathan; niece Susie Hopkins and husband Chris, sons Zachary and Noah; nephew Danny Blevins and wife Christy, daughters Morgan and Parker. Mr. Pyles was preceded in death by his loving sister, Deborah Pyles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be directed to the American Cancer Society. A Celebration of Life service and reception is planned for October 20, 2018 at the Church of the Nativity in Timonium, MD at Noon. Followed by a reception at Liberatore's Restaurant in Timonium, MD.

I worked with Don the last few years at Northrop Grumman and I always liked talking to him because he was honest and straight to the point and he was very knowledgeable. I missed him the day he left and when I walk by his test area, I always think of one of the good guys. Bless you Patty
