E. Lisansky Obituary

Following a sudden and unexpected brief illness, Dr. E. Jonathan (John) Lisansky died at age 75, on August 1, 2025 in San Diego, CA, surrounded by his loving family.

The son of Ephraim T. Lisansky MD and Sylvia (Cohen) Lisansky, Dr. Lisansky graduated from the Park School, received his BS and MS from Syracuse University and his medical degree from the U of MD. Following his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia and residency in Psychiatry at the U of NM, he completed a fellowship in Psychopharmacology at the U of CA, San Diego.

In his clinical work, research, and teaching, he was affiliated with the U of NM Health Sciences Center and the Albuquerque VA Medical Center. His extensive research in psychiatry and endocrinology resulted in his receiving the Glenn T. Peake Clinical Investigator Award from the U of NM School of Medicine. In his therapeutic work over many decades, Dr. Lisansky was committed to providing empathic and compassionate care to veterans most acutely and chronically affected by complex post-traumatic stress disorder. in his personal life, he was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, a blackbelt both in Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, an amateur screen writer and stand-up comic, a lover and caring owner of many dogs, and a recent student of country line dancing.

Dr. Lisansky is survived by his wife, Donna (Paisley), his son, Jesse Alan, his sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Alan Beck, his nieces and nephews, Julie Beck and Emily and Marc Sloat, and their children, Emmanuel and Veronica Stern and Raquel and Jaxon Sloat.
