Elaine Florence Singleton Zerhusen

1931 - 2021

With heartfelt sadness, our family announces the passing of our devoted mom, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elaine Florence Singleton Zerhusen. Elaine died peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospice in Timonium, MD on December 20, 2021.

Elaine was born on January 11, 1931 to Walter and Thelma Singleton of Baltimore. Except for 6 years in New Jersey in the 1960's, Elaine was a lifelong resident of Maryland. She was a proud graduate of The Catholic High School of Baltimore (Class of '49), an active and devoted "alumni mom" at both Loyola High School and the former Towson Catholic High School, a lapsed contract bridge and mahjong player, a frequent adult education student at Dundalk Community College and Notre Dame of Maryland, a parishioner of St. Joseph's Texas/Cockeysville and a long-time volunteer at and employee of Stella Maris.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Clarence Edward "Bo" Zerhusen, and by her younger sister, Jean Olivas. She is survived by her 4 children -- David and his wife Kathy Schoff, Judy and her husband Michael Wall, Cathy and her husband Ed Miller, Jeff and his wife Mary Ellen "Meg" Gunther -- and by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was devoted to, and overwhelmingly proud of, each of them.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 27th at 10 AM at the family-owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 York Rd., Towson, MD 21204. To prevent the spread of COVID, the family requests that those in attendance be vaccinated and have the booster shots. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions be directed to Stella Maris at 2300 Dulaney Valley Road, Timonium MD 21093, or at giving@stellamaris.org.
