Ella Mae Myers

1931 - 2025

Ella Mae Myers, beloved aunt, great-aunt, and devoted friend, passed away at the age of 93.

Ella was born on June 19, 1931, in Baltimore, Maryland to Thomas and Margaret Myers, but raised by her beloved grandparents, James and Ella Moody. Ella grew up in East Baltimore and graduated from Dunbar High School. She later continued her education at Loyola College.

Ella dedicated her career to public service, working as a private investigator for the State of Maryland in the child support enforcement division. A passionate proponent of justice, she was known for her fierce advocacy for those who were disenfranchised and oppressed. Her colleagues and those she served admired her unwavering commitment to fairness and compassion.

A woman of deep faith, Ella supported various Christian ministries across many denominations, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She believed strongly in the power of faith, family, and charity-principles she lived by every day. She was a protector of those she loved and a champion for anyone in need.

Ella never married, but was the cherished family matriarch. She was preceded in death by her dear sister, Margaret Bates, and nephew, Robert Bates, Jr. She is remembered with love by her nieces, Gloria Bates, and Barbara Bates-Hopkins; her great-nieces, Tracey Oliver-Keyser (Chadwick), and Kenya Bates; her great-nephew, Charles Mario Brown, Sr; and a host of extended family and close friends. She loved God, her family, and her friends with her whole heart, and was loved and respected by all who knew her.

Her legacy is one of strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her values. She will be deeply missed.

The family will have a memorial service at Park Lane Baptist Church, 3606 Mohawk Ave, Baltimore, MD 21207, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 11 am.
