Erwin Burtnick Obituary
Colonel Burtnick spent 37 1/2 years in the United States Army in both active and reserve duty. He was a commissioner on the Maryland Veterans Commission and an Ombudsman for the MD ESGR Committee.
Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, at 1:30 pm. Interment United Hebrew Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America, 1811 R Street NW, Washington, DC 20009; Friends of the Jewish Chapel at the United States Naval Academy, 326 First St., Suite 22, Annapolis, MD 21403; Boy's Town Jerusalem, 110 Hillside Blvd, Ste. 14, Westgate Plaza, Lakewood, NJ 08701; or Jewish Uniformed Service Association of Maryland, 2316 Sugarcone Road, Baltimore, MD 21209. The family will be in mourning at JUSA House, 2314 Sugarcone Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21209, Wednesday following interment, services at 7:30pm, family will not accept visitors pass at 9:00pm, Thursday, 12-9pm, No visitors 3:30pm-4:30pm, services at 4:30pm, family will not accept visitors pass 9:00pm. Friday, 11am-1pm. Sunday, 12-9pm, No visitors 3:30pm-4:30pm, services 4:30pm, family will not accept visitors pass 9:00pm. Shiva platters, Kosher only from Goldberg's Bagels, Seven Mile Market and Market Maven. Please coordinate any food deliveries with Dan Berkowitz, 305-482-3862.

I feel very honored to have known Col. Burtnick through our common dedication to veterans causes, to Judaism, and to a strong national defense. I am shocked to learn of his passing. My he rest in eternal peace and glory. May all the mourners by comforted. May the memory of his life be a blessing and an inspiration in our lives.

To our dear Janet, Scott, Ain and Jason,
It is with deep sorrow that we share your grief at this time of bereavement over the passing of Erwin. We hold you close to our hearts and in our thoughts.
May you find strength in memories of Erwin, his humility, his smile, his sense of service. We are honoured to have known him as we spent time with him and the family whenever we visited. He always made us feel welcomed and at ease. We are also grateful for his kindness towards (our daughter/sister) Ain.

Sir,
You were one of the only people in my life that ACTIVELY told me to fight against the status quo, from the Jewish War Veterans to everywhere else in life.
I´m so sorry to the entire Burtnick family for this monumental loss. I wish I had one more conversation, one more chance for more to receive guidance, and also a truthful voice to bounce ideas off of.
The Jewish War Veterans of the USA and every other organization he supported have a gaping hole that will never be refilled by his loss.
