Evelyn Hertsgaard Obituary

Evelyn "Lynne" Margaret Hertsgaard departed this earthly life on October 1, 2018, at age 88. Eldest child of Minnesota farmers Irvin and Gertrude Ballard, she had six children and was an accomplished artist, gardener, cook, and spiritual leader. She spent most of her life in the Baltimore area, raising children, goats and sheep on a farm near Baldwin and later enjoying a home in the woods near Woodlawn. Her marriage to Rolf Hertsgaard, the TV newsman at WBAL, ended in divorce. Known for her irrepressible energy, sparkling smile and unconventional outlook, she was a true original. She is survived by siblings Allen, Ron, David and Linda, children Lynn, Barry, Mark, Peter, Holly and Heidi, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her younger brother Bruce preceded her in death. Your fond memories of Lynne would delight her, in lieu of a memorial service.

My friend and I went to Lynne
annually to get our chart reading--o on target/ uncanny!. Also my daughter's 14th birthday was a trek to take her closest freinds t Lynne I adored her. I have been searching for year for where she went. ust found the obit in 2022. so now she is with the heavenly grace of all Time. what an inspiration. what great advice. Lynne was highly evolved and a wise soul.

My sisters, Mary, Jane and I had the privilege of babysitting the Hertsgaard children for many years. I was always in awe of Lynne and her beautiful love as a wife and mother. She was my mentor. How blessed I am to have had her in my life.

My family knew the Hertsgaard family well. My twin sister and I babysat their 5 wonderful children- Barry, Mark, Peter, Holly & Heidi on a weekly basis. Lynne's positive attitude was such an influence on my life, and how to love my husband and children. My heartfelt sympathy to her family who were blessed to have such a special mother. May her love for you give you peace and comfort.

I still have a tape from a reading Lynne did for me years ago. In fact while I was over her house her son had called and was talking about the book he had just finished writing on the Beatles. She was amazingly on point with everything she had told me especially with things that I needed to do. I really enjoyed the time I spent there and left inspired by this special woman
