Fern Wisner was a very gifted photographer. I remember the first time I visited the Bagel Bin in Columbia. Her portraits covered the walls, and I was stunned by the way the people in those pictures came to life and seized me with curiosity about the life of each person portrayed, and about the relationships among the people featured. I decided shortly thereafter that I wanted my own family to be photographed by her, and having made that known, my wife took my kids to a secret photo shoot with her for my birthday. I am very proud to have her pictures in my home. Ironically, I am the only one in my family who was not privileged to meet her in person. But I feel I know her because of her art and the importance she placed on honoring each individual.

Ari and family, our sincere condolences to you. We think of Fern as a beautiful person, inside and out. Our home is filled with her photos -- pictures that have kept some of our happiest memories alive -- photos of our kids as infants and children, photos of our parents, siblings, nieces, Bar/Bat mitzvah. We see our family together in the tree in your backyard every day! We are very sad to lose Fern. Jeri Shuster and Bruce Rosenblum

My heart goes out to the family. Fern was a friend and pier. I am heartbroken for anyone who knew her. She helped make this world a better place one photo at a time. Love and prayers to all of you.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of Fern. I only remember sharing a handful of memories with Fern, but I do remember her always bringing a sense of adventure and compassion to any occasion. As a child, I was amazed by her photography skills and she was always happy to share that with me. I would always be excited to here the Eisner's were in town, even if it meant I got to see a little less of David that week.
With love and fond memories, Travis Rupp

We will miss Fern in the deepest manner. She was one of the original Ladies of the Morning at the Swim Center, and she was a friend. I am grateful to have evidence of her talent through the recent photos she and Ari took for Charles' and my 50th wedding anniversary.

I saw Fern almost every day for many years at the Columbia Swim Center and also at the Columbia Athletic Club, and at social events with other swimmers. She was so very sweet, interesting, brilliant, funny, kind and down to earth. I don't think there was a single time I saw her that she didn't have something extremely nice to say to me. She always brightened my day. I also loved seeing her beautiful photographs at the Bagel Bin and Athletic Club. I was always proud to say, "I know the woman who took these!" Love and prayers to all of her family and friends. She will be sorely missed.

I did not know Fern Eisner. I am so sorry the opportunity did not present itself so I could.
But I did have the opportunity to go to her memorial service today and it was an honor and a privilege.
As odd as it may sound, it was rather serendipitous to be at such a sad event yet to have had the pleasure to be a witness, which by all accounts, was a remarkable life.
As I listened to her friends, family and community eulogize her I was struck by how articulately these people were able to convey who she was as a woman and person, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Also how they embodied what she represented, how they felt, what they would miss about her, how they benefitted, painting a clear and present picture of someone I truly wish I had known. I smiled, I cried, but was mostly so very moved.
The people who loved her the most were bravely, confidently and with laser accuracy able to share true intimacy and love with everyone in that room and in an attempt to support her husband who is left to carry on and with each other. Even more breathtaking was this was the reverence with which they honored Fern who apparently embodied this spirit. They displayed it and were willing to share it with everyone they cast their eyes upon today, the best of what she had offered to them. I can not possibly think of a more compelling or truly inspired eulogy in my lifetime.
To the Eisner family I offer this testimonial of what I was so privileged to witness today. This was a love of legend and you each are so fortunate to take her spirit and pay it forward and thank you. Thank you for sharing the joy of her through your pain. Nobel indeed.
Fondly,
Lila Nappi

Fern was one of the nicest Photographers I had ever had the pleasure of knowing... She was a pioneer in realizing how nice Fujifilm was when I was getting established many decades ago. She will be greatly missed. Sending my Prayers..

Our very deepest condolences to Ferns family for their loss. She was such a dynamic and vital person, always initiating stimulating conversation, engaging everyone around her. Although it didnt happen as often as we would have liked, we always enjoyed our time with her she will be missed. To lose a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt or friend so suddenly is very difficult, and our hearts go out to you. Take comfort in your many sweet memories of her and the beautiful images she has captured over the years. With our love and sincerest sympathy,
