Frank Krapcho Obituary

Frank Krapcho, Jr. came into this world on March 19th, 1940 in Nanticoke, PA. Born to parents Mary and Frank Krapcho, he was the youngest of three and the biggest baby that hospital had ever seen. A quiet child, he grew to be a gentle giant who loved his family, the church and polka dancing.

After attending Penn State University, an alma mater he loved throughout his life, he took a job with NSA and found a second home at St. Mark's Orthodox Church. Here he made many lifelong friends and became an active member of the local Federated Russian Orthodox Club (FROC).

On one fateful night he went dancing at Blob's Park where he met the most important love of his life, Helen Jeanette Roderick. After asking her for one dance he soon asked her to dance all the dances with him, and they were married in 1974. Together they went on to have two children, Marty and Kira, and they eventually settled down in Columbia, MD.

A founding member of St. Matthew's Orthodox Church in Columbia, his love for the church remained steadfast throughout his life. Never one to be idle, Frank was always busy with something, be it woodworking, volunteering with Meals on Wheels or bowling with his son. He loved watching birds, yelling at the squirrels and, most of all, just being at home with his family.

Frank passed away peacefully at his home on November 16, 2022. He will be greatly missed by his surviving wife, Jeanette, his son Marty and his wife Maia, and his daughter Kira, her husband Tim, and their three children, Parker, Juliet and Felicity.

A memorial service was held at The Orthodox Church of St. Matthew in Columbia, MD On Sunday, December 4th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to either Meals on Wheels of Central MD or the American Heart Association.

God bless you, Frank! I worked with Frank at NSA in mid 80s, very capable guy with great sense of humor. I was prompted to google search his name after hearing a similar last name on the radio. That is how I learned of his passing only two years ago. Someone I will always remember!
