Gerard Gilbert Obituary

Gerard Brown Gilbert, Jr (Jerry) of Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025.

He was 94. Jerry was married to Joan Marilyn Gilbert (nee Randolph) for 67 years. Joan passed away in 2019 at the age of 88. Jerry is survived by their five children; Linda Gilbert of Chevy Chase, MD, Jeanne Gilbert of Oakland, MD, Diane King of Bedford, PA, James Gilbert of Hackensack, NJ, and Lisa Gurdian of Baltimore MD, 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Jerry was born on July 7, 1931, in Wilmington, DE. He grew up in New Cumberland, PA, where he met his future wife. Joan and Jerry were married in Baltimore on September 3, 1952. They became active members of Stony Run Friends Meeting in 1961. Jerry received a bachelor's degree in 1953 and a Doctorate in electrical engineering in 1962, both from Johns Hopkins University. He worked for over 40 years as an electrical engineer in computer and environmental detection systems, most recently for Smith Industries. He loved animals, especially his pet dog George. In addition to spending time with his family, Jerry was a licensed ham radio enthusiast and enjoyed photography, classical and folk music, nature and camping, vacationing at the beach, and playing various musical instruments, including the piano, banjo, and recorder. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to Stony Run Friends Meeting.
