My heart is so heavy as I write this, but words cannot express the sadness we are all feeling upon hearing of Greg's passing. He was a beautiful person and the love of his familys' life. I, personally, know Aunt Bev would light up at the mere mention of his name.
I fondly remember all the Shaver family reunions that he helped plan. Him playing the guitar and playing with our cousin Billy. All the fun times spent at each other's houses growing up. Me babysitting he and Virginia Ann. All the close family ties that remain part of our childhood memories.
Our prayers are with all of you, but know that he is with his Lord and Savior, as well as those in our family that have passed that loved him so deeply.
Love,
Suzanne and family

We have known the Christakis family for six years. We met briefly many years prior when Greg brought Jess and Matt trick or treating to our house and striking up a conversation saying they almost bought our house before settling on the house down the street. It wasn't until they moved back to Bel Air and our boys were in 3rd grade and become friends that we got to know Kelly and Greg. We have many fun memories of Greg! He was an assistant coach and coach for our oldest in soccer. When he wasn't the coach, he was on the sidelines watching with us and we can still hear his voice cheering for Matt. Mike remembers sleding with Greg on the hill behind the library with the boys during one of our big snow storms. 4th of July picnics and neighborhood parties, we can still hear his laughter and all the stories he would tell. You knew Greg was a great person just by seeing all the love and support from his family and friends this past year. We miss him already. We will always be here for you Kelly, Jess, and Matt.

Dear Kelly, Jessica, Matthew, Virginia Ann and family, and my dear Aunt Bev,

We have had the privilege of knowing the Christakis family for over 10 years. They warmly welcomed us to the neighborhood when we moved to Bel Air from PA. Greg was always such a great example of a wonderful husband and father. You could tell how much he truly loved Kelly and the kids. Our daughter, Amanda, loved spending time at their house with Jessica and it quickly became her second home with frequent sleepovers. Greg was a great role model for her and has had such a positive influence on her life. We are so thankful to have known Greg and he will be greatly missed. Kelly, Matt, and Jessica, you will forever be in our prayers. You mean so much to us and we love you.

I remember Mr. Greg always on the sidelines cheering me on treating me as one of his daughters. Jess and I played on the same team for numerous years and we were not only teammates but we all became family. Mr. Greg was always such an upbeat and inspirational person, even bumping into him at my track meets many years after Jess and I finished playing soccer. The world lost a great man the other day, but I am blessed to have known him. You'll be in my prayers Christakis family!

Dear Kelly, Jess, Matt and Christakis and Dunn families,
My job is not easy, but I get my strength from those people on thier final journies. Greg was such an inspiration to me. His determination, strength, ability to get through each day as normally as possible, as well as the laughter and love he shared for and with everyone he came in contact with was just amazing. His face lit up when his co-workers and friends came to visit, when you talked about his children and soccer, when Kelly arrived home after a long day and when his family was by his side. My visit wasn't complete without a laugh and a hug. My thoughts and prayers are with your Family and Friends and I know Greg will always be watching over each of you.

My deepest sympathy to the Christakis family. I only met and spoke with Greg a few times in training/ meetings with USG. He was so nice to me the first time I met him at a High Impact Presentation training in Baltimore when he picked me up at the airport. He was such a kind, giving person. I know he must have been a fantastic husband and dad and he will truly be missed.

Dear Kelly, Jessie, and Matthew,
I cannot find the words to express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. You have been my next door neighbors for several years now and I am so grateful to have known such a wonderful, loving, giving man. He was such a great husband, father, and friend. I will miss listening to him playing his guitar on your deck, I will miss seeing him and my husband working together on the lawns, laughing, carrying on, and joking with one another. I will never forget how Greg came over and put the swing set together for my grandchildren, Tyce and Trent. He was such a giving person. My heart is aching not only for myself, but for you and your entire family and friends. Such a great loss, but I know that Greg is no longer in pain and is in paradise, now. I know he has not left you, but has gone on to his next and final life in paradise. I also know he will always be with you and will be watching over you. Please know you are not alone during this difficult time and we will always be there to help you with anything you need. Ask and it is done. Thank you so much for sharing Greg's last days with us and allowing us to come over and spend time with him. We love you and may GOD ease your pain. We will continue to pray for you as we have from the first day we learned Greg was sick. Jean, Joe, and Joseph Sunell

Kelly, Jessica and Matthew our hearts go out to you and know that we are here for you.
Greg, growing up with you and your family, I have such fond memories of our great trips and visits with everyone in St.C. My brother and I looked up to you and your sister and always loved & looked forward to spending the Holidays together.
You always had an ear to lend Greg and advice to give. You've only wanted the best for everyone and saw the good in people. You have been such a good example to your family with the time you set aside to spend with them, your role as a provider and work ethic, your strong bond with your parents and many friends etc...
We had some fun times like our trip to Greece and of course you playing Jimmy Buffett songs at our wedding with the band's guitar. What a gift!
We are saddened by your departure but know that you have found peace and are enjoying the Kingdom. Do a Greek dance with my dad, your dad & grab yiayia too up there and know that we love you.

Heaven gained a great man on Tuesday; Nov. 6th., 2012. You'll sure be missed my ole wrestling buddy and friend.
I have four "Phenomenal" children, a wonderful wonderful wife of 23 years and a tremendous loving family...
I can only empathize with the Christakis and Dunn family. They are truly living with un-imaginable loss.
But we can hope — and we can trust — that Greg is now at peace and with God.
Something like this has reminded us how sacred and blessed we are for each of our families, our children and great loving friends.
Greg, his entire family and closest friends is such an inspiration to all of us to survive and get through each day... No matter what obstacles lay before us.
They are certainly experiencing waves of grief — that is just how it comes. But we must always keep remembering Greg as a bright light, a dear husband, wonderful daddy and most special, caring friend.
Part of what made Greg special was his "deep love" for his family, passion for life and gentle; fun loving, character and integrity... a determined man, husband and father.
Greg had such a strong love of life and such a friendly demeanor, he'd just blend-right-in with anyone and volunteer his love... always giving of himself to others. He just loved and accepted everyone. Greg and Kelly raised their children in a very loving home, in a loving community and schools while always surrounding his family with his closest friends. Greg had such a love of life! He was someone who had to pass from this life far too early.
Knowing Greg is with his father now and his Savior Christ Jesus, I boldly pray for his family; Kelly, Jessica and Matthew.
Rest with Peace in Eternity my heavenly brother.
Peace, Love, Strength and Wisdom to his family and friends.
You are certainly missed...
All my love,
Michael Gilot & Family

Even though we only met Greg a little over two years ago when Kathy joined Jess's Harford Kicks soccer team, we loved the multiple conversations we had with him while watching Jess and Kathy play games. I remember Greg with a smile and much fondness. I first Greg back in 2007 when I decided to coach soccer again with my younger children. (I had coached my two older sons for a number of years in Club and High School) We formed a team and called them the Emmorton Gators and Greg was my assistant coach. Matt played on the team with my son Patrick. Greg and I had a ball coaching the team. I remember every game was a battle and every game someone was looking to knock us off. We went undefeated over the course of the season. Greg was like a sponge who couldn't learn enough about soccer. He would constatntly ask me about positioning and strategy.
I would often bump into Greg at Dunkin Donuts or about town and we would re-live our coaching triumphs together. We would laugh together like a couple of big kids. He actually remembered the details of many of the games.
I will always remember Greg as a great guy who loved his family and who was loyal to his friends. I am blessed to be able to call Greg a friend. I will miss him.
