Harry Shapiro

SHAPIRO , Harry Harry Shapiro passed away on January 14, 2010 in Jacksonville, FL. He was born on March 9, 1927 in Baltimore, MD to Dora and Benjamin Shapiro. In addition to his private law practice, Harry was associated with the Baltimore County law office for 22 years, first as Assistant County Solicitor, and later as Chief of the Trial Division. At home in court houses, there was mutual respect between Harry and the judges of the Circuit Court, the Federal Courts, and the Appeals Courts. Harry also served on the Ethics Panel of the Baltimore County Bar Association, as President of the Baltimore County Council of Civic Associations, President of Chestnut Ridge Country Club in Maryland, and board member of the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club Property Owners Association. Harry was a sports enthusiast, an avid golfer, and enjoyed travel to lands near and far. Preceded in death by his siblings, Sylvia Schulman, Leon Shapiro, and Lillian Nuger-Berger, he is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Myra; daughter, Marcy (Eric) Sandler; son, Bruce (Marcie) Shapiro; sister, Ruth (Jerry) Kobernick; grandchildren, Jenna, Alyssa, Ethan, Justin, Noah, and Zoe.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 18 at Beth El - the Beaches Synagogue followed by graveside services at Ponte Vedra Valley Cemetery.
