Jack H. Nichols

Jack Nichols, age 88, passed away in his sleep on October 13 at his home in Bel Air, MD. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Marty, two sons Matt (Lisa) and Dan (Allison), six grandchildren, and three siblings (Gini, Steve, and Bob).

Jack was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He started the physical education department at Harford C.C. in 1964. He was an educator, athletic director, Dean, and dedicated coach to thousands of students across multiple sports (football, basketball, golf, bowling, and tennis). Jack was known as a skilled teacher who coached with great commitment and energy. He was a natural athlete who savored competition and won multiples titles in tennis and golf over the years. He obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Colgate Univ., along with being a multi-year All-American basketball player who was then drafted by the Syracuse Nationals.

A memorial service for family and close friends will be held on October 20 (2:00) at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Abingdon, Md (where Jack was a 50+ yr. choir member). An open reception will then be held in the larger parish hall afterwards from 3-5 for those who want celebrate his life, reconnect with old friends/teammates who knew him well, and share colorful stories about Jack.
