John Auer Obituary
Monsignor Auer was predeceased by his brother William Paul Auer and grand-niece Sarah Auer and grand-nephew Matthew Auer. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children and their grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 22nd from 3pm to 8pm at Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church, with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 7pm at the church. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 23rd from 10am to 10:45am at Church with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11am. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The Funeral Mass will also be livestreamed on the Our Lady of the Fields Youtube page. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Fields Roman Catholic Church, 1070 Cecil Avenue, Millersville, MD 21108 or to St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 689 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146 or Catholic Charities online at https://www.catholiccharities-md.org/donate

In the late 1960s Msgr. Auer was serving at a nearby parish in Baltimore, a steady, quiet man who had already 'breathed the air of other planets' and returned to Baltimore with experience and wisdom few of us imagined. For an age he shared his wealth with his family and many communities, the 'faithful and prudent servant' who enriched a generation. So glad to have known him.
