I was deeply saddened to learn of Dr. Hamilton's passing last year. Not only did I have the privilege of working with him as a member of the President's Staff when he served as a highly respected chairman of the Board of Trustees of Howard Community College, but I also had the opportunity to meet him years earlier when he was superintendent of Spring Grove State Hospital. His commitment to improving care for the mentally ill and his compassion for patients and their families was exemplary. He was a man of great wisdom and warmth.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Hamilton for more than 7 years when he served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Howard Community College in Columbia. In addition to serving well as a college trustee, he was a wonderful person and someone I had the utmost respect for and admiration. He was a fine man, and I feel blessed to have known him.
