John McGonigal Obituary

John Aloysius McGonigal, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 27, 2022. John, of Columbia, MD, beloved husband of Anne McGonigal (nee' Custer), father of Sean (Donna), Kyle (Amy), Ryan (Kristin) and Colin (Kelly), grandfather of Greg (Kristin), Aidan, Jack, Hailey, Cole, Brady, Mollie, Declan, Flynn, Jack, Maggie, Riley and Kate, and great grandson (Bryson), brother of Thomas (Chris). He is predeceased by his parents, John James and Kathleen McGonigal (nee' Reynolds), and his daughter-in-law, Jessie (nee' Brower).

John graduated from Georgetown University in 1965 and was a pitcher on the baseball team. He joined the Peace Corps following graduation and served in Colombia, where he met and married his wife of 54 years. He was a diehard fan and season ticket holder for the Baltimore Orioles. He loved family vacations at Bethany Beach and the Outer Banks.

A memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at the Wilde Lake Interfaith Center on March 24, 2022 at 10 AM.

We are So sorry to hear of John´s passing. We were neighbors for many years as our children were growing up. We knew him as a baseball coach and learned to appreciate his love of coaching youth. He will be missed!
