John Miles Obituary

John "Bob" Miles, the founder of Miles Electric Company and a quietly generous philanthropist, passed away on July 21, 2022, at 83. Born on August 3, 1938, in North Carolina, Bob developed a passion for learning and electricity at a very young age. He pursued that passion and drive for knowledge throughout his adolescence and young adulthood as a Master Electrician and Supervisor. In 1969, Bob branched out on his own and founded the renowned Miles Electric Company which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019. Bob continued to have an active leadership role in Miles Electric up until his passing.

His love for his company was only surpassed by his love for his beautiful wife of 58 years, Julia Miles, and his devoted family. Bob and Julia met and fell in love in Baltimore in 1962 and were married soon after in May of 1964.  Bob's number one priority in life was his family, and number two was his business. Bob was a fierce protector of all those he cared for-to know Bob was to be loved by him. To his family and close friends, Bob was more than just a business mogul and electrician; he had a love for fishing and wildlife, was an avid reader, and, above all, was a captivating and dynamic storyteller. Bob had endless wisdom and love to bestow and his presence in our lives will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Julia Miles, and his children, Karen and Dennis Rossi, Pamela and Daniel High, and Cole Miles; as well as his five grandchildren, Justin, Stephen, Diana, Juliann, and Randi. No formal service will be held at the request of Bob. To honor Bob's love of philanthropy, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
