Joseph Balsamo Obituary

Joseph Anthony Balsamo of Portland, Oregon passed away on September 15, 2023. Joe was born in Baltimore on September 4, 1947. He was the son of Anthony and Sarah Balsamo.

Joe obtained a doctorate degree in psychology from Pacific University in Oregon where he worked as a psychologist at the State hospital in Salem for several years and also maintained a small private practice. He eventually moved into full time private practice, offering clinical, forensic, and supervision services at Mentor Professional Corporation in Portland, Oregon. He also conducted therapy groups at a women's prison which he found very satisfying. He was often hired as an expert witness in court cases. Joe was very proud of the many notes of thanks that he received from his patients over the years.

Joe is survived by his brothers, Paul of Bel Air, Maryland, and Anthony of Michigan City, Indiana, as well as his nephews, Paul Balsamo, Jr. and his wife Kate of Burlington, Vermont, and Daniel Balsamo of Baltimore, Maryland. Joe adored his dog, Jake, and his two cats, Nugget and Tipo, who have all found new adoptive parents.

A remembrance of Joe's life is being planned for the near future for family and friends.

May Joe rest in peace! Joe and Jake would often walk by my work and stop for a hello and some treats for Jake. Joe always shared what the kitties were up to while visiting! Sure miss seeing those guys cruising the neighborhood!

May the Angels lead you into Paradise.
May the Martyrs come to welcome you.
And lead you to the Holy City.
The new and eternal Jerusalem.

Requiescat Pace!

Your Loving Brother,
Anthony
