Joseph Campbell Obituary

Joseph V. Campbell, 63, of Ellicott City, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025. Born on March 2, 1962, Joe was the founding force behind ICAT Transport, transforming it from a small start -up into a thriving surface transportation company known for its integrity, reliability, and personal touch.

A devoted brother, Joe is lovingly survived by his siblings- Rick, Matt, Corey, Jim and Nicky-and by his cherished nephews and nieces, all of whom will miss his warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering support. Joe took great joy in family gatherings, graduations, birthdays, holiday celebrations and sporting events with laughter, encouragement, and his famous homemade ham.

In business and in life, Joe led with caring. He built ICAT transport not just on sound logistics but on the principles of honesty and care- treating every employee and client as a member of the family.

Beyond family, Joe was a great friend to many, from High School buddies to his University of Delaware football teammates, to many he worked with and socialized with over the years. He believed in "giving back" and was known for surprising friends and neighbors with meals, repairs, or simply a listening ear. A Funeral Mass celebrating Joe's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday May 17th, 2025, at the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City, Maryland. All who knew him are invited to attend, share memories, and honor a man whose legacy of generosity, hard work, and family first will continue to inspire us.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Kennedy-Krieger Institute of Baltimore, MD. Rest in peace, Joe. Your drive, your laughter, and your big heart will live on in all who had the privilege to know you.

Again. I am so sorry for your loss for all of us.
In high school Joe introduced an altered poem we had in our football locker room that to this day I lead my life and I know Joe did.
"The Man in the Glass" "When you worked the big game that day and the world has made you a king for a day. Just go to the mirror and look at yourself and see what the man has to say. Fot isn't your family or friends or coach's whose judgment must pass, but the one staring back from the glass. You may fool all the world, down thur the avenue of years, and you may even get pats on your back as you pass. But in life you're only reward will be remorse and regret if you have cheated the man in the glass." Joe has Never cheated the man in the glass! Joe may you rest in peace. Your teammate at St. Theresa's and Trinity. Bob

Wow, what a shock! May he Rest In Peace. Although we lost touch, Joe was my best friend from day one at grade school at St. Theresa to graduation day at Trinity. Joe was definitely not just one of the "cool" kids, but the cool kid. He was a relentless winner on and off the playing fields. He bore the pain of him Mother's loss to himself at a young age. We were too young to know that it's okay to talk about it, so we never did, but it had to burden him. I wish we could have spoken before he passed. I hope he enjoyed his life to the fullest. See you later old friend.

Dear Rick & the rest of the Campbell family-
I was shocked when my sister Patty shared this very sad news with me. I was fortunate to be one of Joe´s high school football coaches back in the day. Trinity High School played a very competitive schedule, & as a running back who carried the team on his shoulders, he was probably one of the most durable athletes to ever play for Trinity. He was highly respected by his teammates for his ability & work ethic, especially during the offseason in the weight room. I will always remember his smile & great personality. His was a life gone too soon. Please accept my deepest condolences as you navigate this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Reno Fuhrman

I met Joe over 20 years ago through my work. He tried to visit us once a year and we always had a great time, sharing a lot of laughs. I retired last January and he drove all the way to Indiana for my retirement party. I felt honored that he came all that way. He was such a genuinely nice guy, and he will be missed. RIP Joe.

I met Joe about 30 years ago when I was in North American's High Value Products Division. I was on many trips with Joe getting new business on the west coast and the east coast. Aside from being a wonderful sales person he was genuinely one of my most favourite people to be around. I cant tell you much we laughed together and were successful landing accounts. Joe was a very good person and I will miss him.

How many years have gone by? Way too many. Joe was an "Achiever" where we met at the banquet, the "new guys" coming up sitting at a table; you, murf, pavone, Carl, Chris and Rick. We were the renegades that made money!! The trips!!!!!! We were tired of the tourist bars in Jamaica we asked the ships crew where they went " The Green Lizard" what a time! On the way back you were going to toss Toni in the harbor I said you don´t wanna do that. You were very kind after that. Going to miss you buddy. Your friend Cheech.

Joe was an amazing person, and as an honest, honorable business man, he was wonderful to work with. I was fortunate to know him over 30 years. He listened and considered options, and when many others in his industry were quick to say "it doesn't work that way", Joe seemed to find a way to get it done. I extend my deepest sympathies to both his personal family and also to his work family at ICAT. His sudden loss at such a young age must be very difficult, and my prayers will be for peace and comforting memories as you move through this difficult time.

I will always remember him as a good man. He didn't hesitate when I talked to him about a Christmas spirit mission for our local school children several years ago, he asked how much he could give. With his generosity, our local home for children was gifted a pizza party and an outing, along with Cuties, goldfish crackers and candy canes for many of our local elementary school kids (Angelfish Project). I remember how he talked about his nephews and nieces with such pride. And he loved to cook special dishes for family gatherings.
I can't speak for FireKing, but as the inside delivery coordinator at the time we met, I truly appreciated his knowledge and business with our inside delivery program. I am saddened by his passing and I hope his family and friends find comfort in his memory and legacy of leadership, generous nature and love of family.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I was a teammate with Joe at St. Theresa's and at Trinity high school. I learned a lot from Joe not only from the x & o's of football but off the field leadership. I lost touch of Joe after high school but his memory of hard hitting and running skill I'll always remember and the year we almost beat our rival Cedar Cliff. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sorrful time.

Joe was my first crush when I was in 5th grade and he was in 8th grade at St. Theresa´s. Joe ate a popsicle every morning at the bus stop. Then the crush continued at Trinity when I was a freshman and Joe was a senior! Sounds like he had a great life, and I wish you my sincere condolences to his family & friends.

Specifically I remember the championship game fall of 1975 at Lowther Street Field, probably against Saint Margeret Mary. Maybe Carmen Ametrano starring for them. Helluva game, though can't remember who won...

I remember Joe in the renowned Saint Theresa backfield with Walsh and my brother John Murphy. And his brother Rick, from my Saint Theresa class, who played at Penn State when I was a student there. And Joe's dad, who coached my brother Pete's high school CYO basketball team. And Joe's mom, who was a great lady. Gone way too soon. My condolences to the family.
