Joyce Thacker Obituary

Joyce Hendrix Thacker, age 88, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away on March 17, 2025, at the Lorien Assisted Living Facility in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Hungerford Pa, she was the daughter of the late F. Allen and Ruth (Rehmeyer) Hendrix and the wife of the late James L. Thacker (Larry) to whom she was married for almost 65 years until his passing in 2022.

Joyce grew up in Shrewsbury and moved to Aberdeen after her marriage in 1957. The family moved to Bel Air in 1961 and She and Larry lived there until their passing.

Joyce worked for Bank of America, initially as a teller for Maryland National Bank in Bel Air Main branch, and later as a Customer Service Rep in the TT Building in Baltimore. She retired in 1996. She served on the Board of The Trinity Lutheran School for several years.

Joyce enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing with their cats and watching the birds on the feeders on their deck and deer in the woods behind their home.

Joyce is survived by her sons, James L. Thacker II and Scott A. Thacker; daughter-in-law Vicki Thacker; grandchildren, Rebecca (Thacker) Mancuso and Jennifer (Thacker) Stachowiak; and great-grandchildren, Sophia Mancuso and Barrett and Adelynn Stachowiak.

Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Joppa, MD on Saturday, April 26 at 10 AM. A memorial service will follow at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joyce's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, 1100 Philadelphia Road, Joppa, MD 21085.
