Kenneth Tipton Obituary

Kenneth E. Tipton, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland, at the age of 80. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, Kenneth was the cherished son of the late Dave and Ollie Tipton.

Kenneth proudly served his country as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Throughout his life, he touched countless hearts with his unwavering dedication to his faith and his community. As Minister of Music, he shared his gift at various churches including Conowingo Baptist Church, Oak Grove Baptist Church, and Calvary Baptist Church in Harford and Cecil Counties, as well as McCulloch Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, Ryker's Ridge Baptist Church in Madison, Indiana, and First Baptist Church Tucker in Tucker, Georgia.

A beacon of compassion, Kenneth served as Chaplain at the Maryland Masonic Home in Cockeysville and provided spiritual guidance as Chaplain at the Harford County Sheriff's Office. His counseling and ministry extended far and wide, touching the lives of many.

Kenneth's passion for spreading joy and love led him to create the Oak Grove Living Christmas Tree and the Oak Grove Quartet, both of which brought light and hope to countless individuals. He also founded the Southern Baptist Association Women's Softball League, the first women's softball league in Maryland, further exemplifying his dedication to fostering community and camaraderie. His daughters would also say that this act was a good example of one of the many reasons he was a perfect "girl dad".

Kenneth's devotion to his family was unmatched. He was a loving husband of 60 years to Revonda Anne Tipton and a cherished father to Leah (Jeff) Magner, Krista (Mark) Vermillion, and Dina (Ray Jr.) King. His grandchildren, Kenneth (Katie) Vermillion, Ben Magner, Dane Vermillion, and Jesse King, brought him immense joy, as did his great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Parks and Delilah Vermillion, sisters Sue Breeden and Phyliss Mee, and brother, Ron Haun.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Dave Tipton Jr., Ruth Vest, Bob Tipton, Mayford Tipton, Lynn Tipton, Anna Beeler, Cleo Johnson, and Mildred Haun. His family has taken comfort in the fact that Ken was born on his mother's birthday and died on his father's birthday and like to think that the three of them along with all of his brothers and sisters who died before are having a true celebration.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Salaam Center https://www.thesalaamcenter.com/ or 427 S Conkling St., Baltimore, Md 21224

Kenneth's legacy of love, compassion, and service will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.

So sorry to hear of Ken´s passing but he is with our LORD!
I was in his choir in Bel Air, Maryland in 2004-05. I am a first Soprano.
He was a wonderful Director but an even more fun friend.
The choir just loved the music he chose and we couldn´t wait to come to rehearsals and sing in church.
May GOD BLESS AND KEEP ALL HIS LOVED ONES
