Lawrence "Larry" John Cianelli, a devoted family man and beloved member of the Havre de Grace community, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the age of 93. He was born on November 3, 1931, in Havre de Grace, Maryland, to Frank and Ida Jane (Christo) Cianelli. Larry was the devoted husband of the late Mildred
Carmela Cianelli for over 71 years. He lived a life filled with love for his family, friends and his community. He is remembered with great affection by his daughters, Laura Cianelli Preston and her husband, Stephen Preston, and Denise Cianelli Rose and her husband, Bruce Rose. He is also survived by his son, Lawrence Richard Cianelli, Jr., and his partner, Deborah Crace. Larry is also remembered through his grandchildren: W. Pace Putland (Liesl), Brittany Putland (Darren), Dominic Cianelli, Mia Allen (Lee), Derek A. Rose (Crystal), Drew A. Rose, and the late Vincent Cianelli. He is cherished by his great- grandchildren: Vivian and Julian Putland, Everett and Gwynn Allen, Zechariah Cianelli, and Leah Rose. He is survived by his brother, Dante Cianelli, and was predeceased by his brother, Frank Cianelli, Sr., and his sister, Diane Cianelli Chitty. He will be missed by his special cat, Bobo, who brought him comfort and companionship. He devoted much of his life to serving his country and participating in his community. He was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Havre de Grace Elks Lodge #1564, and the American Legion Post #47. Larry was a world traveler and proud veteran serving in the Coast Guard and retired from the Department of the Army as a Quality Assurance Specialist after 35 years of service. Larry was an avid boater and decoy collector; he also took great pride and worked hard in his home and yard, nurturing beautiful plants that brought admiration from his family and friends. He loved to gather with his friends and talk about the history of Havre de Grace. In addition, he kept up with world events, he read the newspaper every day and completed the daily crossword puzzle. He will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family, friends and community.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick Church, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, Maryland, on September 27 th at 10 am. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebrate his life with shared memories. Messages of condolences and shared memories may be made at
