Lucrecia JOVEN Obituary



On March 22, 2014, Dr. Lucrecia "Lyn" F. Joven; at her residence in Baltimore; devoted daughter of the late Claro and Agrifina Joven of Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Dear sister of Rachel, Angeles and Juan Joven. Also survived by nieces and nephews (Manrique, Gracia and Joven). Dr. Joven will be missed by many, many loving relatives and friends. She is a graduate of University of the Philippines College of Medicine, Manila, Philippines in 1953. She came to the United States in 1955, and did her pediatric residency at Union Memorial Hospital and Cardiology Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. For a short time she was a staff of Rosewood Hospital Center then went on to private practice until her retirement. She was a member of the American Academy of Pedriatics, American Medical Women's Association and Maryland Medical Women's Association Branch 3. Dr. Joven created two charitable foundations; here in Baltimore in her own name and in Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur, Philippines in memory of the late Claro and Agrifina Joven, a free clinic for children. She is also a member of the Serra Club A Holy Mass will be celebrated at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart (Mt. Washington), 1701 Regent Road, Baltimore, MD 21209 on Saturday at 10:30 AM. Interment Private.

Auntie Lynn was a good friend of my father, Dr. Narciso Cinco (deceased), and my mother, Carmen Tolentino Cinco (Camiguin, Philippines). She was always so good to me and my siblings when I knew her as a child in Baltimore.
