Mitzi Shank

SHANK , Mitzi (Mary Jane) On December 19, 2011, Mitzi Shank, of Middlesex Beach, DE received her wings and was called home. Mitzi was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Ruth and Oliver Knipp. She was a graduate of Towson State College and was a devoted elementary school teacher in Baltimore County, MD for 28 years. Upon retiring and moving to Middlesex Beach, she was a devoted volunteer for C.A.T.S., Meals on Wheels, and the Rehoboth Beach Art League. Mitzi leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband of 47 years, James William Shank, Jr; her sister, Carol Watson and her husband Pat of Joppatowne, MD, Darlene and Steve Maternick of Hackettstown, NJ, Janice and Don Beatty of Midlothian, VA; Wayne and Millie Shank of Baltimore, MD, Jerry and Margaret Shank of BelAir, MD, Linda and Jerry Jennings of Simpsonsville, SC; devoted friends Linda and Peter Barton of Houston, TX, Barbara Ellis and Shamus Lawler of Bethany Beach, DE; many nieces and nephews and her devoted dog, Chancey. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10 am at the Parish of St. Ann's Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930. Please omit flowers.
