Nancy White

1931 - 2022

Nancy Jacqueline (Nocella) White passed away peacefully in her Catonsville, Maryland home on May 8, 2022, at the age of 90. She was a prayer warrior who was always there with wise advice, a meal, or a helping hand when needed. Nancy was born on November 23, 1931, in the Bronx, NY. At a young age, she moved with her family to Washington, D.C. where she attended Walt Whitman High School and the University of Maryland College Park. She was a proud, life-long member of the sorority Alpha Omicron Pi. Nancy married Elmer James White Jr. on December 26, 1950. They moved to Baltimore in the mid 1950's where they raised four children. Nancy was an entrepreneur who started and developed many businesses. In 1983, Nancy and her son, E.J. founded Whitehouse Caterers. By virtue of Nancy's tireless effort throughout her 36 years as owner, Whitehouse Caterers at Overhills Mansion has grown to be a successful, premier wedding and event business. She planned thousands of events for the most significant moments in the lives of others. She was not just a boss, but also a mentor for her staff, who became like family. She retired at the age of 88, passing down her legacy to her daughter, Paula, and granddaughter, Julia.

Nancy was active in several churches over the years, spending her last 15 years at Catonsville Assembly of God. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer James White Jr., and daughter, Christina Marie White. She is survived by her son Elmer James White III of Catonsville, and daughters Julia (Lewis) Linker of Annapolis and Paula (Thomas) Brostrom of Ellicott City. Nancy was an amazing grandmother to Jason (Hannah) Linker, Christopher (Kaely) Linker, Julia (William) Hahn, and Samantha Brostrom and was blessed with six great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 10 at 2:00 PM at Overhills Mansion, 916 South Rolling Road, Catonsville, MD.
