Having just found out about Mr Sandlers passing, I wanted to take a moment and express how much I loved him.
We met one day and shared our love of traditional Jewish desserts like halva and hamentashen. I happened to have some halva with me at work that day and offered my new friend some. He declined. Our friendship blossomed from there.
We talked about baseball, his life, his love for his kids and stuff that friends talk about that they don't write about. He was my friend. I will always respect my friend, Mr. Sandler and his wishes about that.
He was a very sweet and determined man that went and visited Sonia everyday. When his legs and body were telling him to relax, but his heart and soul inspired him to see his love.
He was unequivocal in his love for Sonia, Mike, Shelley and Jody. He often told me stories about how much he adored his children and grandchildren. It pained him to not be able to do more but his heart was always full of love for those he held close.
It's not to say that he didn't get angry. My good friend, Mr Sandler got angry with me a few times for helping him. He had a voice of power...however, we both knew that I had to help him in some instances.
Mr. Sandler, thank you for talking with me. Thank you. It seems weird to thank you for being a friend, because we were friends from the moment we met. I'm so much of a better man for having met you and your family. I only wish to pay the love and friendship you gave to me, on to another person in my travels through life.
Sonia, Mike, Shelley, Jody,
I wish I could share the funny stories that Nat and I shared together....but he's my buddy. I've got his back. He's got mine.
Mike, I will make sure I do a ton of mitzvahs for him as I go through my journey.
Shelley, I'll make sure I'm a smart aleck as I go through my journey.
Jody, I'll make sure I will be calm and caring as I do the aforementioned.
Mr. Sandler was my friend. I'm lucky to have known him.
Please let me know where to send a personal letter to the family.
