I met Nick when he was still "Robin". He was 12 and I was 13. We instantly bonded over our love of comic books. For the next 10 years, we were each others' comic-book buddy and so much more. We spent decades apart but something would bring him to mind about every other day. Boys wrestle with their emotions; caught up in the manhood thing. Not Nick. His emotions were always about a quarter-inch below the surface, so he couldn't help showing how he felt about anything and everything. The best part of that was that I always knew that that sensitive, talented, smart, humble guy loved me. And I loved him right back.
