I remember Dr. Michael as a loving and generous member of our community. he and his family made welcomed me into their home and family. I am sad to hear of his passing and send my condolences to his family and friends

He was a counselor, fraternity brother, confidante, encourager, that shared his deep concern for his patients including my family and Aunt Mary Dixon. He tearfully shared with me when he lost a particular patient. He was a doctor of excellence and courage. He was a fighter for right and we worked together during a flood in Asheville to make certain minorities were treated equitably including opportunities for minority contractors. We met with Feds and with contractors to make certain all voices were heard and to monitor the collegial relationship between Feds and the outside contractors did not mistreat contractors or citizens ahd then leave while using a questionable procedure that invited possible unfair or maybe a corruption and/or a possible buddy system system with out of state contractors awarded all contracts.

Today my heart breaks to learn of the passing of Dr. Michael. Not only was he our family doctor, he was our friend, confidant , advisor and mentor. We loved him , and have missed him sorely since he left us. Calling me "fprofessor" he gave me hope many times. My heartfelt condolences to all the family. The Locke and Sheila Ramsey family.

On behalf of the entire Saxton family (the descendants of Michael's cousin, Mary Lou Saxton-Hammonds), we express our deepest sympathy and condolences. Otis' love for our late grandmother and our extended family was so endearing. Family meant a lot to him. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers go out to Otis' children and loved ones. With love, the Saxton family from Texas, Virginia and New York.

Dear Family, your loss is our pain, for we are deeply saddened to learn that Dr. Michael has transitioned. He embodied and projected a loving and animated spirit that is simply indelible. We share a myriad of fond and rare memories, showcasing him not only as our family doctor but also as our neighbor and as our friend. He carved a special space in our hearts that will be forever etched with admiration and with respect. Our world will never be the same, knowing that he is not in it. We shall always honor and embrace his memory and his legacy. As a side note, Dr. Michael spoke well of you, his children, his sister and even his former spouse. You are so blessed to have had him in your lives, and we know that you, more than us, will miss him dearly. May you find comfort and peace as you feel his indomitable presence.

With love,

I just heard my brother, my friend, my mentor, my supporter of human and civil rights has gone home to be with the Lord. To his family, my family and I extend our heartfelt prayers and love. We spent a lot of time together in Asheville NC and when I moved to Florida he flew down to visit with me as he was my wifes and my doctor. GREAT DOCTOR, FRATERNITY BROTHER, AND FRIEND, just as Lavie has always meant so much to us. Love and prayers and hope to hear from the family [email protected]
