Patsy Hannah Obituary

Patsy Lee Bohn Hannah, age 90, of Hanover, PA died Friday, February 9, 2024 at her home.

Born March 17, 1933 in Daysville, Frederick County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Frank P. and M. Isabelle Eakle Bohn. She was the wife of the late Lee Theodore "Ted" Hannah, her husband of 58 years, who predeceased her in 2015.

During her early childhood the family moved to Union Bridge, MD where she was a member of Mt. Union Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a 1951 graduate of Elmer A. Wolfe High School, Union Bridge, having attended the school from grades one through twelve. She graduated in 1955 from Frostburg State Teacher's College (now Frostburg University) with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She obtained her Advanced Professional Certificate through graduate work at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, Towson State University, University of Maryland and Loyola University, all in Maryland.

She taught first grade for 35 years, two years at Elmer Wolfe School, four years at Baldwin-Whitehall School District in Pittsburgh and 29 years in Harford County, MD (one year at Halls Cross Roads Elementary in Aberdeen and 28 years at Homestead-Wakefield Elementary in Bel Air). During her teaching career in Harford County she served as a supervising teacher for many student teachers from Towson University. Following her retirement in 1992 Mrs. Hannah continued to teach as a substitute in area private pre-schools and Homestead-Wakefield Elementary, kindergarten through third grade.

She served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lung Association of North Central Maryland, the Teacher Advisory Council of Towson State University and the house committee of the Maryland Golf and Country Club, Bel Air.

Mrs. Hannah was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bel Air since 1993 and served as an Elder for several years, along with chairing the Christian Education Committee.

She enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband, flowers, collecting angels and clowns and writing poetry for birthdays, anniversaries and retirements. She also wrote a history in poetry when the First Presbyterian Church celebrated their 150th Anniversary.

Surviving are sister-in-law, Catherine Bohn of Hanover; nieces and nephew, Julie Arter, Dan Sellman and Karen Winters; cousin, Elizabeth Albaugh and goddaughter, Bridget Hannah Bongiorno of Birmingham, MI. She was predeceased by a brother, Neil F. Bohn in 2008.

A funeral service will be held at Mt. Union Lutheran Church, 5000 Middleburg Rd., Taneytown on Thursday, February 15 at 11 a.m. Pastor Cary Moorman will officiate. Family and friends will be received 1 hour prior to funeral services.
