Here I am 15 years later finding out my old friend from the Air Force Reserves passed away in 2009. Randy simply speaking was a great human being. A mensch as they say.
May his wife and family know he touched many people he worked with as a great friend and mentor.

I don't know what made me click on the link but as soon as it said "Veterinarian" I remembered him...we deployed to Tunisia together in 2006. What a gentleman...a true gentleman. I realize I still have the business card he gave me. My prayers are with the family.

My heart is very touched and saddened but I know that heaven is rejoicing. My thoughts and prayers go out to family, loved ones and friends. In the little time I knew Randy I felt like I had always known him, he seemed like family and touched my heart with his kindness, gentleness humor and compassion. He was a kindred soul and a good man. I know he will be deeply missed but his memory will live with us forever. I talked to him over the holidays and he was then in good spirits and very positive and upbeat. It takes a special soul touched by God's strength and peace to endure life's unexpected cross like Randy did. He's been in my prayers daily since learning of his disease. He will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. He will be deeply and dearly missed. I know that God is going to take real good care of him!
With tears in my eyes I know Randy would want us to celebrate his life with joy and not dwell on the sadness. That brings a smile to my face and peace in my heart.
"God promises a safe landing, but He never promised an easy journey".
To the joy, friendship and humor that Randy brought into this world, may his soul now rest eternally in peace!
May God Bless Randy and everyone who knew him!
In His Loving Memory,
I am sincerely,

I took three trips with Randy and the last one was specifically because he was going to be the team chief. Many people in the military are managers, that is easy, the tough part is to be a leader, thank you Randy for being a leader. The missions I was on with you were significantly better because of you. I am very glad I was able to go around the world with you, it has been a true honor.

I met COL Brown on a humanitarian mission to SD. His calm, pleasant demeanor, willingness to teach and talk, and great sense of humor were a highlight of the trip. We will all miss him greatly.

I wish to share my deepest condolences to Randy Brown's family and other friends. I had the privelege and joy of working with Randy on many scientific projects over the past 15 years. He was always cheerful, good-humored, yet a skilled and practical mentor to me. I will feel his loss in both my professional and personal life. We can never understand how our flight will land, but Dr. Brown rode out his journey with gusto. May God bless Randy and comfort all his loved ones in his passing.
Sincerely,

I am extremely saddened at our loss of Col Brown. Although limited, the interaction I had with him was always pleasant. I don’t know how, but he knew my name and always offered helpful advice and guidance. No one can fill his void, but thankfully he has touched many people in such a way that his spirit and kindness will live on through them. Thank you for all the people you touched.

When I transferred to the Maryland Air Guard, from Tennessee - Randy took me under his wing to make sure I felt comfortable in my new Guard home. He made sure we went to lunch at least once each drill - and many bottles of wine were drunk in Little Italy. We became collegues and then friends. As a physician - I know too well these things happen . As Randy's buddy - I don't understand why.
Rest well - Mission Complete.

Col Brown created opportunities where there were none - because of him so many people traveled to places they otherwise would never have seen, shared experiences they otherwise would never have known. He reminded us that caring for those less fortunate is truly why we are here. From Belize to Peru to Bosnia to New Orleans to Rosebud - they are all better places because he led us there. He showed us the way. It is now up to us to show others.

I am so saddened at the loss of Randy. I traveled with him around the world teaching - I valued him as a friend and colleague and I learned much about being an officer and leader from him during simple conversations in a parking lot. I will always remember and miss him

Like many in the Air Guard, I knew Randy for some time. When I moved to the city last year, he was the one who gave me the grand tour of Fell's Point and all it has to offer. I enjoyed more than one wonderful dinner with him. Professionally and personally, he was a person who we all relied on, whose sheer passion for what he did was unmatched. Rest well Randy, for you had a life here beyond what most of us will have, and you continue to live now, still making sure we are all taken care of and safe.
I will miss you.

I was truly shocked when I received the phone call that Col. Brown had passed. I know that he is in a better place now and at rest in his beautiful new home with our father. I know that he will be looking down on us hoping that we are not sad but happy that he is no longer suffering but at peace. My thoughts and continued prayers go out to his family and all of us at the 175th Med Group as this is such a tragic loss to a great commander and friend.

I was heartbroken to hear this morning that Randy passed away. I am sure the sense of loss you feel today is overwhelming. You all are in my thoughts.
Unfortunately I never worked very closely with Randy on any projects; because I am sure if I had I would have seen first hand just how caring, compassionate and knowledgeable he truly was. That was certainly my first and lasting impression of Randy.
He was a very likeable person and I know he will be deeply missed. I hope his family, friends and loved ones take some comfort in knowing he’s in a good place keeping a watchful eye on those he touched.
Most sincerely,
John
Thank you for passing on the information. I enjoyed meeting and working with Randy. He has made many contributions not only to SAGE and their clients but to many people in the world. He will be missed.

How terribly sad this is. Thanks for letting us know. My condolences to you & the staff at Sage. Though my experiences with him were brief & few, it was very clear to me that Randy was a very kind and gentle man

So sorry to hear about Randy’s passing. I was devastated when I got the news this morning. He was such a great personality and he had a way of lighting up every room he walked into. Some of the staff members he worked with during the implementation were equally sad to get the news this morning. I hope you two are holding up….it is just so hard especially when it happens at such a young age.
Thanks,
Alice
I was so shocked and saddened by the news of Randy’s passing. I had no idea he had taken ill. He will be missed at PPG. I always found him to be a warm and caring person. He was always willing to lend a hand during our training.
Again, my sincere sympathy.

I had the privilege of working with Randy in Pakistan, where he was instrumental in teaching the Pakistanis how to manage disasters after their devastating earthquake in 2005. Even though Randy was sick because of the food for much of the time, not to mention the 14 hour days and the jet lag, he was the most popular of the 10 American instructors. He worked harder than all of us. Our lives, and the lives of countless ordinary people of Pakistan, are better off because of Randy's dedication.
