Richard Harrity Obituary

Richard Dennis Harrity, Jr. (57) of Ellicott City, MD, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, after a brave battle with esophageal cancer.

Rich was born on July 24, 1965, to parents Richard Harrity, Sr. (deceased) and Patricia Harrity. He went to Centennial High School followed by Gannon University in PA; he began his career as a land surveyor, which he continued for over thirty years. However, his true passion lay on the Chesapeake Bay, where he would race his sailboat on Wednesday nights throughout the year and often on weekends. All those who knew him knew that he loved to live life to the fullest, whether he was winning races on his sailboat or enjoying time with his children, wife, and dog. Rich always knew how to make family and friends laugh, and he will be very dearly missed by all.

Rich is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Jenna and Jonathan; mother, Patricia; brother, Brian (Carrie); his nieces, Anna and Sara; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Services were held at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Ellicott City, MD on Tuesday, April 4 at 12 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gilchrist Hospice Center, a nonprofit organization that provides end-of-life care to those who are ill; they took great care of Rich in his final weeks.
